Pneumococcal vaccine

GAVI support for this vaccine became available to countries for the first time in 2007 and as at January 2009,
11 countries were approved for this type of support.

Of the 72 GAVI currently eligible countries, 71 countries currently qualify for support for pneumococcal vaccine, because their immunisation coverage for the third dose for diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DTP3) has reached 50% and their government is not already funding the vaccine.

GAVI support is currently for the 7-valent pneumococcal vaccine - Prevnar.
