Flavia Bustreo

Flavia Bustreo: Assistant Director-General for Family, Women’s and Children’s Health, WHO

Dr Flavia Bustreo is Assistant Director-General for Family, Women’s and Children’s Health at WHO. Bustreo’s career in international health has focused on policy development, implementation and partnership-building. She led the development of the UN Global Strategy for Women's and Children's Health.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka

Yvonne Chaka Chaka: singer and humanitarian, South Africa

Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s notoriety as a singer has allowed her to exercise her desire to make a difference to global health and human rights through humanitarian work. In 2006, she founded her own charity, the Princess of Africa Foundation, to support her work with UNICEF and Roll Back Malaria.

Suraya Dalil

Suraya Dalil: Minister of Health, Afghanistan

Dr Suraya Dalil became Afghanistan’s Minister of Health in 2009. She has performed extensive work for UNICEF despite continual conflict in her country, including implementation of various programmes in Afghan provinces and support of initiatives to improve healthcare for women and children.

Steve Davis

Steve Davis: President and CEO, PATH

Steve Davis was appointed PATH’s President and CEO in 2012 after serving as Board member and Interim Director of PATH’s India Country Programme. Davis is committed to social change through research, advocacy and creative entrepreneurship.

Chris Elias

Chris Elias: President, Global Development Program, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

After serving as President and CEO of PATH for 12 years, Dr Chris Elias joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as President of the Global Development Program in January 2012. Under Elias’ presidency, PATH saw unprecedented expansion, providing support in over 70 countries.

Graça Machel

Graça Machel

Graça Machel is President of the Foundation of Community Development and of the UNESCO National Commission in Mozambique, Chairperson of the National Organisation of Children of Mozambique and a founding member of The Elders. Machel is the only woman to have been first lady to two presidents of two different countries; from 1975 to 1986 to Samora Machel, President of Mozambique, and from 1998 to 1999 to Nelson Mandela, President of South Africa.

Hussein Ali Mwinyi

Hussein Ali Mwinyi: Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Tanzania

Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi is currently Tanzania’s Minister of Health and Social Welfare and has also been MP for Kwahani since 2005. His main areas of work include HIV control and treatment, control of malaria and reduction in the rate of trachoma incidence in Tanzania.

Geeta Rao Gupta

Geeta Rao Gupta: Deputy Executive Director, UNICEF

Dr Geeta Rao Gupta joined UNICEF as Deputy Executive Director in June 2011. Prior to this, she was Senior Adviser on Strategy and Management for the Global Development programme at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and President of the International Centre for Research on Women.

Hans Rosling

Hans Rosling: co-founder, Gapminder Foundation

Hans Rosling is Professor of International Health at Karolinska Institutet, the medical university in Stockholm, Sweden. His 20 years of research on global health has focused on the nature of the links between economy and health in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Rosling co-founded Médecins sans Frontières in Sweden and Gapminder Foundation.

Richard Sezibera

Richard Sezibera: Secretary General, East African Community

Dr Richard Sezibera is currently serving a five-year term as Secretary General of the East African Community. Prior to this appointment, Sezibera was the Minister of Health of the Republic of Rwanda.

Zain Verjee

Zain Verjee: news anchor, CNN International

Zain Verjee has been an anchor for CNN International for over 10 years. She has reported on US foreign policy and international news, often from overseas. She has presented The Situation and World One, CNN International’s European programme.

Chris Viehbacher

Chris Viehbacher: CEO, Sanofi

Chris Viehbacher is CEO of Sanofi, a member of both Sanofi’s Board and Strategy Committee and Chairman of Genzyme. Prior to this, he worked for GlaxoSmithKline, where he gained extensive international experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
