Funding history
The UK is one of GAVI’s six original donors and one of two donor countries that support GAVI through all three funding channels.
For the period of 2001-2010, the UK contributed over US$ 311 million to GAVI with US$ 137 million in direct contributions, US$ 152 million to IFFIm, and US$ 22 million to AMC.
In 2011 the UK hosted GAVI’s pledging conference to save children’s lives in London. At the event, Prime Minister Cameron pledged an additional £814 million, of which the UK allocated £26.2 million to IFFIm and £50 million to the GAVI Matching Fund for Immunisation.
As a result, for the period of 2011-2030, the UK has pledged over US$ 4.7 billion in support of GAVI with US$ 1.4 billion in direct, US$ 2.8 billion to IFFIm, and US$ 463 million to AMC. Additionally, DFID has pledged £50 million (US$ 80 million) to the GAVI Matching Fund.
Contributions and pledges in total:
- direct funding (2000-2019): US$ 1.5 billion;
- IFFIm: US$ 3 billion (£ 1.38 billion over 20 years, £ 250 million over 20 years and £ 26.2 million over five years);
- AMC: US$ 485 million;
- Matching Fund (2011-2015): US$ 80 million (£ 50 million).
