  • Proceeds to GAVI from donor contributions & pledges (2011-2015) as of 31 December 2013

     

    Note: Proceeds are the funds made available to GAVI for the period from donor contributions and commitments, either through cash payments made to GAVI, through the frontloading via the capital markets of a donor future commitment to IFFIm, or AMC funds released to GAVI via the World Bank. Proceeds are subject to change from factors including new pledges announcements, GAVI's cash flow needs from IFFIm and the impact of foreign currency changes. Figures do not include IFFIm agreements that have yet to be formally signed.

    All 2000-2013 direct and GAVI Matching Fund contributions are recorded in US dollars at the actual exchange rates for the day of cash received. All 2014-2033 direct and GAVI Matching Fund pledges are expressed in US dollars at 31 December 2013 exchange rates.

All 2000-2013 direct, Matching Fund, and AMC contributions are recorded in US dollars at the actual exchange rates for the day of cash received. All 2014-2033 direct, Matching Fund, and AMC pledges are expressed in US dollars at 31 December 2013 exchange rates.

    All 2000-2013 IFFIm contributions are recorded in US dollars at the actual exchange rates for the day of cash received. All 2014-2033 IFFIm pledges by donors in US dollars and US dollar equivalent amounts of national currency pledges calculated using prevailing exchange rate at the time of signing of the grant agreement. These contributions are hedged at the time the grant agreement is signed. These contributions have not been reduced by a notional 3% provision to allow for any potential reduction arising from the High Level Financing Condition of the IFFIm Finance Framework Agreement.

  • Funding history

    Sweden is one of GAVI’s original six donor countries and contributes to the Alliance both through direct funding and the IFFIm.

    For the period of 2001 through 2010 Sweden contributed US$ 123 million in direct contributions and US$ 10 million to IFFIm. For the period 2011-2015, Sweden has committed US$ 226 million in direct funding, and US$ 27 million to IFFIm for the period 2011-2021.

    New developments since the June 2013 GAVI Board meeting include an announcement at the MTR by Honourable Hillevi Engstrom, Minister for International Development of Sweden of an increased contribution to GAVI to a total amount over two years of $ 129 million for the period of 2013-2014.

    Contributions and pledges in total:

    • Direct funding (2001-2015): US$ 378.8 million;
    • IFFIm: US$ 36.9 million (SEK 276.2 million over 15 years).
